In August the coalition prepared for the 35th meeting of the UN FAO Committee on Fisheries in Rome and the 4th World Small-Scale Fisheries Congress, Europe in Malta. Both events are important spaces to amplify our call to action, build the coalition’s network, track the development of relevant policies and speak to SSF representatives and other experts to inform our upcoming campaigns.

Coalition member Fauna and Flora International launched the next stage of the Defining Destructive Fishing project, which aims to support progress in addressing ‘destructive fishing’. Meanwhile, over 200 scientists in Europe signed an open declaration calling on the EU Commission to ban bottom trawling in MPAs.
